A phased change begins

Binance’s announced migration of crypto assets from Funding accounts toward Spot accounts enters its first stage on September 29. The exchange’s September 22 notice described changes to Funding account deposits and a process for moving supported crypto balances.

The transition should not be interpreted as every user’s entire account changing at exactly the same moment. The announced plan uses stages, with further account changes extending into January 2027.

What changes for users

The immediate issue is where supported on-chain deposits are credited and how users move balances between internal account sections. A different wallet label does not by itself change the total amount of an asset held at the exchange.

It can, however, affect an established workflow. Someone who regularly uses Funding for payments or peer-to-peer activity should check the relevant in-app notice before relying on an old sequence of steps.

Account migration is not a token swap

An internal move between account sections is different from sending assets to another blockchain address or exchanging one token for another. Users should distinguish an official account notice from messages that ask them to transfer assets to an external wallet.

Availability and timing may vary by service or region. The exchange’s current account interface is the place to verify an individual balance and supported action.

Watch the remaining stages

The broader migration will be judged by whether balances and services remain easy to locate. Clear records and consistent account descriptions are particularly useful during a staged transition, when older instructions can quickly become outdated.
