BitBoy Armstrong jailed in Florida after harassing judge through email, adding to his legal troubles
Crypto's most controversial influencer just added another mugshot to his growing collection.
Ben "BitBoy" Armstrong was arrested in Florida after allegedly harassing a judge via email, proving once again that being your own lawyer is not a good idea.
Florida authorities locked up Armstrong on March 25th without bond, classifying him as a fugitive from justice.
This comes just days after BitBoy himself bragged on social media about sending emails to Judge Kimberly Childs where he called her "dishonorable" and claimed she deleted her Twitter account after receiving his messages.
Pro tip: insulting the person who decides your legal fate is generally considered a bad strategy, even by crypto standards.
The Volusia County Division of Corrections is now housing crypto's most troubled influencer while the legal system figures out what to do with someone who thought harassing a judge was a 200 IQ move.
BitBoy's reputation for making questionable decisions is more consistent than Bitcoin's four-year cycle.
This is the same guy who got arrested in September 2023 after livestreaming himself outside a former business partner's house in a fight over a Lamborghini.
He also managed to get himself named in a class-action lawsuit for promoting unregistered securities on Binance – a case that settled for $340,000 last August.
The pattern here is as clear as day: BitBoy keeps finding new and creative ways to get himself into legal trouble.
And this time, representing himself in court without a lawyer might be his most disastrous financial decision since... well, whatever crypto he shilled last.
There was a time when BitBoy's YouTube channel had millions of followers hanging on his every word about crypto.
The crypto community that once embraced him now largely views his antics as a cautionary tale of what happens when influence outpaces responsibility.
With no bond and no announced court date, BitBoy could be looking at an extended stay in Florida's correctional system.
The formal charges haven't been disclosed yet, but harassing a judge rarely ends with a slap on the wrist.
Legal experts are probably watching this case like it's a masterclass in what not to do when involved in litigation.
Meanwhile, crypto influencers everywhere are likely checking their own email outboxes and breathing sighs of relief that they've never called a judge "dishonorable" in writing.
As regulatory scrutiny intensifies across the board, the days of consequence-free promotion and erratic behavior are clearly numbered.
The unregulated wild west of crypto-influencing is facing its own bear market as accountability becomes the new trend.
For Armstrong, this could be the final chapter in a crypto career that started with million-dollar promotions and ended with jail cells and courtrooms.
But in an industry that loves a comeback story almost as much as it loves a good controversy, who knows what BitBoy might do next – assuming he gets out, that is.
