Some meme coins bark while others bite – this one was certainly the former.

Binance's former CEO, Changpeng Zhao, finally revealed his dog's name, and the market lost its collective mind.

For one, it’s a cute name – but more than that, it’s an opportunity for adrenal-charred traders to create new bags and new opportunities.

The Big Reveal

The Belgian Malinois is called Broccoli because, in CZ's words, "it starts with 'B' and has some green in it."

Can't argue with that logic…or how cute the dog is.

Four.meme, the go-to spot for launching tokens on BNB Chain, quickly crashed from the surge of people trying to create Broccoli-themed coins.

While that’s one way to get young folks to eat their vegetables, that’s probably not what Grandma had in mind.

Of course, there were winners and losers, with one version of BROCCOLI shooting up to a $400M market cap before settling around $74M.

Apparently that price point is much more reasonable for a token named after the dog of a founder of a popular exchange… what a sentence.

The trading volume was even wilder – in just two hours, traders moved $220M worth of these veggie tokens amongst themselves.

Eleven lucky degens walked away with million-dollar bags, probably wondering if they'd just pulled off the greatest trade of their lives or if the industry was really just a casino all along.

The Solana Side

Not to be left out, Solana jumped into the vegetable patch too.

Their top Broccoli coin hit a $5M market cap with $56M in volume because one blockchain's worth of produce-themed tokens has to be the big winner here, and Binance took the crown this time.

CZ watched all this unfold with what we can only imagine was a mixture of amusement and disbelief.

"I'm just posting a photo of my dog," he tweeted before adding fuel to the fire with "Let the best meme coin in the community win."

The BNB Foundation's even talking about rewards for the best memes now, like we needed more reasons to create vegetable-themed tokens.

…is carrot coin next?

Vibing With Veg

In the grand scheme of things, this is one of the most ridiculous things and somehow the most normal thing to happen in the industry this year.

But let’s not forget that while eleven wallets made seven figures on BROCCOLI, countless others got chopped trying to catch the pump.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Dubai, there's a Belgian Malinois who has no idea he just caused half a billion in trading volume.

Good boy.
