Kraken Prepares UAE Launch After Full Dubai Market Approval

Kraken plans a UAE rollout with dirham funding after Payward received full market approval from Dubai’s regulator.
Payward, Kraken’s parent company, announced on October 12 that it plans to launch in the UAE in the coming weeks after receiving Full Market Approval from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority. VARA’s public register lists Payward FZCO as active, with broker-dealer and management and investment permissions, including service to retail investors. The license was issued October 6.
The planned rollout includes dirham deposits and withdrawals, AED trading pairs, spot and margin trading, staking and access to xStocks. Additional products remain subject to approvals. The important timing distinction is that regulatory authorization has arrived, while the company’s announcement still describes customer go-live as a forthcoming step.
For a customer, entering a new trading platform involves more than finding a market with an attractive quoted price. Money must reach the account, orders must execute and proceeds must eventually return to a usable bank balance. A local currency connection can affect the usefulness of that entire journey.
Our reading is that dirham funding is therefore one of the announcement’s practical details. It could reduce the number of conversions or intermediaries involved in accessing the platform. Actual convenience will depend on the supported banks, processing arrangements and fees disclosed when the service becomes available.
An exchange license is not a guarantee against investment losses, and different services carry different mechanics. Spot ownership, leveraged exposure and a tokenized market product should not be treated as interchangeable merely because they appear within the same application. Each needs understandable terms and a clear description of what the customer holds.
The same applies to staged launches. A service mentioned in a roadmap may arrive after the initial account opening and funding features. Readers should look for a concrete availability notice rather than assume every planned product is immediately accessible.
The next milestone is operational: opening the service to eligible UAE customers and demonstrating that local funding and market access work together reliably. Payward’s approval advances its regional plans, but the evidence of adoption will come from the launched product and its use. That sequence keeps the news grounded in what has been authorized, what has been announced and what customers will actually be able to do.
