BitGo closes its NYDIG trading deal, Schwab adds SOL, AVAX and LINK, Visa partners with Upbit's operator, and CME launches new crypto indexes – all in one week.
While prices digested the Warsh speech, the deal flow continued. BitGo completed its $42.5 million acquisition of NYDIG's institutional trading business, adding execution, derivatives, structured products and financing to its custody platform.
Charles Schwab said it will add Solana, Avalanche and Chainlink to Schwab Crypto, alongside existing Bitcoin and Ethereum spot trading, with early access sign-ups now open.
Visa expanded its Asian stablecoin footprint through a partnership with Dunamu, the operator of Korea's Upbit exchange. Japan's SBI Holdings invested $270 million in Indonesian broker Ajaib. Swift's blockchain ledger reportedly completed its first real-time transaction.
CME Group launched the CME CF Crypto Market Index and Emerging Crypto Index, plus Ethena reference rates, pushing its pricing infrastructure beyond BTC and ETH. Coinbase and Better Mortgage made their token-backed conforming mortgage generally available to Coinbase One customers, with an initial waitlist representing over $260 million of projected volume.
The Ethena Foundation announced four changes: it bought out early investors who had sold ENA, assigned all protocol value to token holders under a master framework agreement, put a revenue buyback fee switch to a governance vote and eliminated future monthly VC unlocks.
Cronos halted operations after an exploit tied to lending protocol Tectonic, with losses estimated at $75 million. Oracle protocol Switchboard suspended services across several chains on suspicion of an attack, and Fogo paused its mainnet after roughly 400 million FOGO tokens were moved.
The headlines were about the Fed; the balance sheets were about distribution. Brokerages, card networks and exchanges are wiring crypto into the products people already use. That is what sticks after the macro noise fades.
